United by a straight line that connects the two provinces of Bari and Taranto, Locorotondo and Martina Franca arise in that portion of territory that takes the name of Valle d’Itria. The first one is located on a hill overlooking the valley, an ancient village chosen among the most beautiful ones in Italy, also known as “city of wine”. The historic center is white for the use of lime and has a typical circular shape, it is built on terraces planted with vines. The characteristic pointed roof of the”cummerse” outline the shape of a fairytale village. People walk along the streets and smell inviting scents and aromas, heritage of an ancient and poor cuisine but at the same time full of unique emotions and flavors. A few miles away you can visit Martina Franca, a center much more populous than Locorotondo and famous for the quality of textile industries as well as of local wineries. The vast historic center is hidden and only once close you can see the dome of the master church, the Basilica of San Martino. Once arrived at the gates of the village the feeling is magnificent: the virtuosity of the Angevin Baroque takes shape in a series of impressive drapery and stone decorations that adorn the town hall, the square of San Martino and the arches and columns that transmit to the visitor the greatness of past times. This excursion offers a unique experience, among a characteristic landscape, its history and art, which is not only in stone , but in the cuisine and in the soul of this territory as well. The guided excursion includes a visit to the vineyards of our production in Valle d’Itria and of a traditional local winery with a panoramic view of Valle d’Itria with an explanation of the winemaking phases and a guided tasting of a selection of our wines accompanied by typical Apulian products, olives and dried broad beans. In general the visit with tasting needs about 1.15 h / 1.30h and is also available in English.
